Ruth’s practise focuses on her fascination for pattern and repetition.  She draws on other cultures and their aesthetic surroundings to develop these ideas, which she combines with her own personal aesthetic, creating her own unique patterns.  Her interest in pattern is also reflected in the geometric forms of her work which she uses to show case her intricate and lively patterns; she allows the shapes to guide her to the final structure of her pieces.  Ruth utilises a wide range of techniques as she combines the use of modern technologies with her interest for traditional hand making skills.  Material exploration is another key factor of Ruth’s work as she explores the use of unconventional material combinations to translate her designs and ideas.
